オランダで買い物／Rondje boodschappen / Grocery shopping in the Netherlands

スーパーの入り口の近くに、パンや果物や野菜がある。
Als je de supermarkt inkomt kom je eerst langs brood/fruit/groente.
When you enter the supermarket, you first come across the bread/fruit/vegetables.

普通に野菜は市場で買うけど、時々もスーパーで買う。
Normaalgesproken koop ik groente op de markt, maar af en toe ook wel in de supermarkt.
Normally I buy vegetables on the market, but also sometimes in the supermarket.

このお菓子や飲み物は買わないけど、面白い写真と思った・・・
Deze dingen (koekjes/zoutjes/cola/koffie) koop ik niet, maar ik vond het wel een leuke foto…

スーパーマーケット / Supermarkt / Supermarket

野菜・果物・チーズ・ナッツ・お茶・魚・石けん意外はスーパーで買う。オランダのスーパーは日本とちょっと違う。魚は冷凍か肉と同じのプラスティックのパッケージで売っている。生の魚は市場と「魚の店」だけで買える。スーパーで買える魚はそんなに美味しくないと思う・・・
日本のスーパーで歌がいっぱいあるけど、オランダのスーパーでそんな「魚の歌・肉の歌」とかがない。音楽があったら、ラジオです、

Behalve groente, fruit, kaas, noten, thee, vis en zeep koop ik bijna alles in de supermarkt (supermarktvis vind ik gewoon niet meer lekker nadat ik een tijd vlakbij een viswinkel heb gewoond 😛 Maar in Japanse supermarkten verkopen ze wel echt verse vis, dus dat is ook lekker). Het grootste verschil met Japanse supermarkten vind ik dat in Japan bijna alle groenten/fruit apart verpakt zijn (om elke appel een beschermend netje bijvoorbeeld), en de visafdeling is veel groter in Japan (en hier niet-bestaand). Ook zijn er wel veel supermarkten in Japan waarbij allerlei liedjes spelen bij verschillende afdelingen in de supermarkt (vissenliedje wat in 2003 in ‘onze’ supermarkt speelde, en in 2006 hadden ze bijvoorbeeld een liedje bij het vlees en niet meer bij de vis).

Except for vegetables, fruits, cheese, nuts, tea, fish and soap I buy almost everything in the supermarket (I think supermarket fish doesn’t have a taste anymore since I’ve lived almost next to a specialty fish store for 5 years 😛 But in Japanese supermarkets they do sell fresh fish, so that tastes good too). There’s no fresh fish sold in Dutch supermarkets.
Many vegetables are packaged in plastic, except for a few (what is and isn’t packaged differs per supermarket chain). There are unpackaged fruits than vegetables (which you can see on the photos a bit as well).
I also photographed the meat (all plastic-packaged, which is what causes the “shine” on the photo) and just a hallway in the supermarket (with cookies/salty things/cola/coffee on the shelves – all things I don’t buy, but I liked the photo…).

専門店 / Gespecialiseerde winkeltjes / Specialized shops

こんなお店でお茶の葉っぱやハーブとかが売っている。
In dit soort winkeltjes kun je losse thee en kruiden kopen.
You can buy leaf tea and spices in these kind of shops.

専門店で、私は紅茶・ハーブ・などを買う。

In gespecialiseerde winkeltjes zoals Drogisterij Woortman (zie foto) en Droom van Utrecht (veel foto’s op hun website) koop ik kruiden en thee.

In specialized shops like the old-style drug store Drogisterij Woortman on the photo, I buy herbs and tea. Another store I visit is Droom van Utrecht, which has a lot of nice photos on their website.

市場 / Markt / Market

野菜や果物 / Groente en fruit / Vegetables and fruit
野菜も市場で買う。季節が変わると売っている野菜も違う。スーパーで売っている野菜少し変わるだけ。

Groenten koop ik ook op de markt. Ze verkopen in elk seizoen weer andere dingen, wat in de supermarkt niet altijd het geval is.

I also buy vegetables at the market. What they sell differs per season, which is not always the case in the supermarket.

ナッツなど / Noten enzo / Nuts etc.

市場でもナッツ、お米などが買える。自分のガラス瓶を持っていったら、ナッツは直ちに瓶に入れる。

Bij de notenkraam op de biomarkt hebben ze heel veel verschillende noten, maar ook andere droge dingen zoals rijst en amandelmeel. Het zit allemaal in aparte plastic bakken om ervoor te zorgen dat ook mensen met allergiën bij ze kunnen komen (behalve als je ook al reacties krijgt op bijvoorbeeld “een enkel pindamolecuul”, dan raden ze het af). Je kan ook je eigen potje of bakje meenemen 🙂 Als je meer koopt is het goedkoper en als je heel veel koopt krijg je “hippiekorting” 😉

On the market you can also buy things like nuts and rice in bulk (when you buy more, you get discounts). It’s in plastic bins because the sellers take care not to let cross-contamination occur (in case customers have allergies).

チーズ / Kaas / Cheese
市場はいつも外である（雪が降る時にも！）。色んなチーズがある（牛・羊・ヤギの牛乳で作ったチーズ）。牛のチーズは黄色、羊とヤギのチーズは白い。市場でチーズを買うときには自分でチーズのサイズが決める。

Een paar foto’s van de kaaskramen op de markt. De foto van de kazen in rode kratten en de foto met de klompen zijn genomen op de gewone zaterdagmarkt, de rest van de kaasfoto’s zijn genomen op de biologische boerenmarkt van de kraam van Ravenswaard.
Het prettige aan kaas kopen op de markt vind ik dat je precies zoveel kan vragen als je wil hebben (en ze hebben specialere kazen dan in de supermarkt, en ze zijn lekkerder :P).

The following photos are of the cheese stands at the local markets (the one with the cheese in red plastic crates and the one with the wooden shoes are taken at the normal market, the others at the organic market). I like that you can choose the size of the cheese you want, which is not the case in the supermarket (and they have more special varieties, and they taste better :P).
