日本旅行：東映太秦映画村／Japanreis: Filmdorp in Kyoto / Japan trip: Movie village in Kyoto

日本人の友達と一緒に、京都の映画村に行った。家の中にも入れて上から道の写真が撮れた！
偽橋もあった：前から見て、普通の橋見たいけど、後ろは階段。
閉めたドアの隙間に見て、ドアの後ろにはカメラなどがあった。
私たちが映画村に行ったとき、映画が撮らなかった。

Samen met Japanse vriendinnen waren we naar het filmdorp (“TOEI Kyoto Studio Park” of in het Japans, “TOEI Uzumasa Eigamura”) gegaan. We konden ook de huizen in, vanwaar ik foto’s van de straten van bovenaf kon maken!
Er was ook een nepbrug: van voren leek het een gewone brug, maar aan de achterkant zat een trap.
En als je door de de spleten van gesloten deuren keek, zag je ook allerlei camera’s enzo staan.
Op het moment dat wij er waren, werd er geen film opgenomen.

Together with Japanese friends we went to the movie village (“TOEI Kyoto Studio Park” or in Japanese, “TOEI Uzumasa Eigamura”). We could also enter the houses, so I could take photos of the streets from above!
There was also a fake bridge: from the front it seemed like a normal bridge, but there were stairs on the other side.
And when you looked through the cracks of closed doors, you could also see a lot of cameras etc.
On the day we were there, they weren’t recording any movies.

日本旅行：伏見稲荷大社／Japanreis: Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto / Japan trip: Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto

伏見稲荷大社は駅の隣にある。鳥居の後ろを見て、会社・人の名前がいっぱいある。どこでも見える写真で、赤い鳥居だけがある。鳥居に名前が書いてあったのは知らなかった！だから、私は名前の写真も撮った。
自然も綺麗だった。竹が沢山あって、普通の木も綺麗だった。
朝の11時ぐらいから昼の3時までこの山に歩いた。大きい～！熱すぎて（35度ぐらい）から、山の半分まで登っただけ。あそこのサインで「上まで後５５分」って書いてあった所から帰った。この暑さにはもっと時間がかかると思った。

Fushimi Inari Taisha lag naast het station: dit is de tempel met rijen van poorten waar je onderdoor kon lopen. Op alle achterkanten van de palen van de poorten stonden de namen van sponsors, maar die zie je alleen als je via de andere kant de poortentunnels doorloopt. Als je de normale route loopt, zie je die dus niet.
Het was wel een mooi gebied om doorheen te lopen, ook veel bamboe en allerlei planten en bomen.
Het tempelterrein was best wel groot en we waren pas rond 3 uur weer terug bij het station (we waren om 11 uur vertrokken). Er waren meerdere rijen met poorten, ook hoger de berg op. Wij waren maar tot halverwege de berg gegaan, want de hoogste route was nog 55 minuten volgens het bordje – maar vast een stuk langer in deze hitte, dus besloten we toen maar weer naar beneden te lopen. Het was ook heel warm vandaag: ongeveer 35 graden.

Fushimi Inari Taisha was next to the station: this is the shrine with rows of red gates forming a kind of hallway. On the back side of the gates are the names of sponsors, but you only see them when you walk through them from the other side. When you walk the normal route, you don’t see the names.
It was a very pretty area, lots of bamboo, trees and plants.
The shrine grounds were very large. We had left at around 11 AM and got back to the station at about 3 PM. There were more paths with gates, but we only went halfway up the mountain. At that point there was a sign saying it was 55 more minutes to the top, but it would probably have taken longer as it was very warm: about 35 degrees Celsius. So we decided to walk down again.

おにぎり／Onigiri

日本旅行に、おにぎりもいっぱい食べた（香料無しのおにぎりもあった）！
オランダで買えないから、開き方の写真を撮った・・・

Tijdens onze Japanreis hebben we veel onigiri (gevulde rijstballetjes) uit de supermarkt gegeten (ja, er zijn ook onigiri zonder kleur/smaakstoffen). Op de verpakking staan wel aanwijzingen over hoe je ze open moet maken, maar ik vond het leuk om er ook een keer foto’s van te maken 😛 Dus bij deze…
Aan de linkerkant ligt een simpele rijstbal zonder vulling (in een gewoon zakje), aan de rechterkant een rijstbal met zalm.

During our Japan trip we ate a lot of onigiri (filled rice balls) from the supermarket (yes, there are also onigiri without added colourings/flavourings). There are direction on how to open them on the packaging, but I wanted to take photos one time 😛 So here they are…
On the left side there’s a simple rice ball without fillings (in a normal bag), on the right side there’s a rice ball with salmon.

ホステルの道に、小さなレストランがあった: きっちん・きらく。一人の男は全部の料理をした！とても美味しいうどんを食べた。
「丸太町知恵光院」のバス停留所に出てすぐ見つける。

そして日本人の友達と一緒に、京都駅の隣にある「池田屋・はなの舞」と言う居酒屋に行った。出てから、夜の京都タワーが見た。

In de straat van ons hostel zat een klein restaurantje: きっちん・きらく (Kitchen Kiraku). Het was een eenmansrestaurantje, dus één man maakte alle gerechten klaar! We hebben er hele lekkere udon gegeten.
Als je uitstapt bij de bushalte Marutamachi-chiekoin (丸太町知恵光院) zie je het restaurantje bijna meteen (je komt er ook langs als je vanaf het hostel naar station Nijo loopt).

En samen met Japanse vriendinnen waren we naar een izakaya-restaurant genaamd 池田屋・はなの舞 (Ikedaya – hana no mai) gegaan, in een hoog gebouw direct naast station Kyoto gelegen. Toen we na het eten naar buiten kwamen, kon ik een foto van Kyoto Tower in het donker maken.

In the same street as our hostel there was a small restaurant: きっちん・きらく (Kitchen Kiraku). It was run by one person, so one man was preparing all the food! We ate very delicious udon there.
When you get out at the bus stop Marutamachi-chiekoin (丸太町知恵光院) you see the restaurant almost immediately (you also pass it when you walk from the hostel to Nijo station).

And together with Japanese friends we went to the izakaya restaurant called 池田屋・はなの舞 (Ikedaya – hana no mai), in a large building next to Kyoto station. When we got outside after dinner, I could make a photo of Kyoto Tower by night.

日本旅行：京都タワー／Japanreis: Kyoto Tower / Japan trip: Kyoto Tower

京都駅から出て、すぐ京都タワーが見える。
入り口の前、中学生の女の子は私に質問を聞いた。英語の授業のために、外国人に英語で質問をしないといけなかった。英語の先生（アメリカ人）は中学生と一緒にいた。
先、一人の女の子は京都タワーについて話をした。
その後、他の女の子は私に質問を聞いた。例えば：名前、何才、趣味（「読むこと」と「旅をすること」だけを言った）、何回目京都に来た（4回目と思う・・・皆「わ～～」って言った）、日本で一番綺麗な所はどこ（決められなかった・・・沢山の所が綺麗!最後に「奈良」って言った）、世界で一番綺麗な所はどこ（もっと難しく決められる・・・！「どこでも綺麗」って言った・・・）。
その時に、彼氏は英語で先生と話した：「セレネも日本語が分かるけど、学生達に言わないで」。
でも、私が「奈良」の答えたときに、一人の女の子は日本語で「鹿」って言った。日本語の文に、私は英語で「Yes」って答えた・・・でも、女の子は私が日本語の文に英語で答えたのは分からなかったと思う。面白かった。
終わりに、団扇と付箋を貰った。神戸の中学校だった！その後は皆と一緒に写真を撮った。

そして京都タワーに登った。上に、あまり人がいなかった。東京タワーとスカイツリーに人が多かった！
京都タワーもそんなに高くなかったけど、景色も良く見えた。京都の建物は東京の建物よりも低いだから。
スモッグがあったから、そんなに遠くに見えなかったけど、まだ沢山見えた。

Tegenover het station van Kyoto ligt Kyoto Tower. Toen we daar naar binnen wilden gaan, werden we aangesproken door een groep meisjes (met hun Engelse docent erbij, een Amerikaanse man). Voor school moesten ze buitenlanders in het Engels aanspreken en ze vragen stellen. Eerst had een meisje een stukje verteld over Kyoto Tower, daarna stelde een ander meisje de vragen. Bijvoorbeeld: Hoe heet je, hoe oud ben je, waar kom je vandaan, wat zijn je hobbies (“reading books and travelling” – laat ik het lijstje maar kort houden dacht ik :P), hoe vaak ben je al in Kyoto geweest (ik denk dat dit mijn 4e keer was… – iedereen “wow :O”), wat vind je de mooiste plek in Japan (uhhh, ik kon niet echt kiezen, zoveel mooie dingen gezien! Dus maar “Nara” gezegd…), wat vind je de mooiste plek in de wereld (kon ik nog minder kiezen, dus heb ik maar “Everywhere” gezegd…). Mijn vriend was ondertussen met de docent aan het praten, hij zei tegen hem “Laten we maar niet zeggen dat ze ook gewoon Japans kan!”. Maar toen ik “Nara” zei, zei 1 van de meisjes “shika” (hert) en ik zei dus “Yes!” daarop, maar volgens mij had ze niet door dat ik dat Japanse woord had begrepen, maar dat was dus wel grappig. Ze gaven ons daarna 2 waaiers en 2 post-it boekjes, allebei met de naam van hun school. Blijkbaar kwamen ze uit Kobe! Ze wilden aan het einde nog een foto maken als bewijs, dus ik had ook mijn camera nog even aan de docent gegeven 😛 Want ik wilde natuurlijk ook wel een foto.
Vervolgens Kyoto Tower opgegaan. Het was superrustig boven, nogal een verschil met Tokyo Tower en de Sky Tree! Kyoto Tower was ook minder hoog, maar je had alsnog een goed uitzicht over Kyoto. Alle gebouwen in Kyoto zijn over het algemeen veel minder hoog dan in Tokyo (vooral laagbouw). Er hing wel smog, dus we konden niet heeeel ver kijken, maar we hebben toch nog best wel wat kunnen zien.

When you walk out of Kyoto station, you immediately see Kyoto Tower. When we were about to enter, we were stopped by a group of girls (with their English teacher, een Amerikaanse man). For their school assignment, they had to talk with foreigners in English and ask them questions. First, one of the girls told us a bit about Kyoto Tower, then another girl asked the questions. For example: What’s your name, how old are you, where are you from, what are your hobbies (“reading books and travelling” – let’s keep it short, I thought :P), how many times have you visited Kyoto (I think this was my 4th time… – everyone: “wow :O”), which place in Japan is the most beautiful in your opinion (uhh, I couldn’t really choose, so many pretty places! So I said “Nara”…), which place in the worl is the most beautiful in your opinion (even harder to decide, so I said “Everywhere”…).
In the meantime, my boyfriend was talking with their English teacher. He told him: “Let’s not say she can also understand Japanese!” But when I said “Nara”, one of the girls said “shika” (deer), so I said “Yes!”, but I don’t think she noticed I was replying to her Japanese sentence, which was funny.
They gave us two fans and two post-it noteblocks, both with the name of their school. Apparently they were from Kobe! At the end they wanted a picture as proof, so I also gave my camera to their teacher 😛 Because I wanted a photo as well.
Then we went up Kyoto Tower. There were hardly any visitors, quite a big difference with Tokyo Tower and the Sky Tree! Kyoto Tower was also less high, but still you could get a nice view over Kyoto. All buildings in Kyoto are less high than in Tokyo (mostly low buildings). There was some smog, so we couldn’t see very far into the distance, but we could still see quite a lot.
