日本旅行：USJ／ Japanreis: Universal Studios Japan / Japan trip: Universal Studios Japan

２０１４年7月31日、USJに行った。入り口で、顔の写真が撮られた（日本人だけ！）。食べ物・飲み物を持っていくのはダメだったけど、かばんにあった水のボトルは入り口の人が見えなかった。
先に、ハリー・ポッターのエリア入場整理券を買いに行った。7月15日から開けたエリアだから、とっても忙しかった。
その後色んなアトラクションに行った（例えばカップケーキ・ドリームとバック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャー・ザ・ライド）。バック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャーに待った時、沢山の自分で持ってきた食べ物を食べている人を見た・・・
前のUSJに行ったときは２００３年にだった。あの時に、バック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャーのライドが一番好きだった（映画も好きだから）。車に乗って、回りに映画が見えるアトラクションだった。

お昼ご飯後、ハリー・ポッターのエリアに行った。35～38度ぐらいだったから、屋根に雪が見えるのは変だった・・・「イギリスでいつも雪がある」の考え方かな？
先は「フライト・オブ・ザ・ヒッポグリフ」に乗った。サインで待つ時間は８０分って書いてあったけど、本当は40分だけだった。短いライドだったけど、上からハリー・ポッターの世界が良く見えた！
お城の中にもライドがあったけど、その待つ時間は3時間だから入らなかった。
女子トイレで、嘆きのマートルの声も聞こえた！トイレでも沢山の人は外で買ったバタービールを捨てた。やっぱり味はまずかった・・・それを見たから、バタービールを買わない方がいい！男子トイレでも皆はバタービールのガラスを洗っていた。

沢山の家の中でお土産屋があった。「フィルチの没収品店」と言うお土産屋に入った。待つ時間は30分だったけど、他のお土産屋でも待つ時間があった。中にも人が多すぎたから、何も買わなかった。

Op 31 juli 2014 gingen we naar Universal Studios Japan (USJ).
Bij de ingang werd van alle Japanners ook een foto van het gezicht gemaakt, maar buitenlanders sloegen ze over. Je mocht ook geen drinken/eten meenemen, maar de controle was helemaal niet zo streng dus ik had wel een flesje water mee naar binnen genomen.
Eerst liepen we naar het Harry Potter-deel om kaartjes te reserveren (voor sommige dingen waar het heel druk was, zoals het nieuwe Harry Potter-deel (open sinds 15 juli), moest je een tijd reserveren vanaf wanneer je naar binnen mag.
Daarna bezochten we diverse attracties, zoals de cupcakes (zie foto) en de Back to the Future attractie. Toen we in die wachtrij stonden, zagen we heel veel mensen die hun eigen meegebrachte eten stonden op te eten. Back to the Future was een attractie waarbij je in de Delorean zat in een ruimte met een imax-scherm (dus beeld rondom). En natuurlijk wel Japans gesproken 😛

Na de lunch liepen we naar het Harry Potter-deel. Er lag sneeuw op de huizen (met 35-38 graden…), wat er wel een beetje vreemd uitzag.
De eerste attractie die we bezochten was de Hippogrief-achtbaan.
Er stond 80 minuten wachttijd op het bordje voor de achtbaan, maar het was 40 minuten. Het was een korte achtbaan (niet over de kop), maar hij ging wel net hoog genoeg dat je een mooi uitzicht had over het Harry Potter-deel. In het kasteel zat ook een attractie, maar de wachtrij daarvoor was 3 uur, dus daar hadden we geen zin in.
Er waren “Jammerende Jenny” (spook)-geluiden te horen in de vrouwen-wc, en iedereen stond d’r glas boterbier om te spoelen (bij de mannen blijkbaar ook), want ze vonden het niet lekker… Maar het glas mocht je wel meenemen. Je kon buiten namelijk ook glazen boterbier kopen bij een kraampje.
In bijna alle huisjes zaten souvenirwinkeltjes. We besloten naar het achterste winkeltje te gaan (Filch’s confiscated goods), wat gewoon een cadeauwinkel was. Voor alle winkels stond een rij, ook voor deze (ongeveer een half uur). Binnen was het ook heel druk, je kon eigenlijk niet fatsoenlijk bekijken wat ze er allemaal hadden. We hadden dus ook niets gekocht.

On July 31st, 2014, we went to Universal Studios Japan (USJ).
At the entrance, a photo was taken of the face of every Japanese visitor, but they skipped foreigners. You also weren’t allowed to bring food or drinks into the park, but they didn’t check everything in the bags, so my bottle of water went unnoticed.
First we walked to the Harry Potter area to reserve tickets (for some attractions that were very popular, like the new Harry Potter area (open since July 15), you had to reserve a time for entering that area or attraction).
After that we went to various attractions, like the cupcakes (see photo) and the Back to the Future attraction. When we were waiting there, we saw a lot of people eating their own food (food they had brought with them). Back to the Future was an attraction where you sat in the Delorean with an IMAX-screen (so you’re surrounded by the screen). And of course with Japanese audio 😛 But for the rest, the attraction is the same as in Universal Studios Hollywood, which I visited in 2004.

After lunch we walked to the Harry Potter area. There was snow on the roofs (while it was 35~38 degrees Celsius…), which looked quite odd.
The first attraction we visited was the Flight of the Hippogriff, a short roller coaster without loopings. The sign said we’d have to wait for 80 minutes, but it turned out to be only 40 minutes. From the top of this roller coaster you had a very nice view over the Harry Potter area.
There was also an attraction inside the castle, but we didn’t go in as the waiting time for that one would be 3 hours…
In the women’s toilet you could also hear Moaning Myrtle ghost sounds, and everyone was washing out her glass of Butterbeer which you could buy outside, because they all didn’t like it… But you could take home the glass. Apparently it was the same in the men’s toilet!
In almost all houses there were souvenir shops. We decided to go to the one at the back (Filch’s confiscated goods), which was also just a souvenir shop. We had to wait for 30 minutes to get in, but that was the same for all shops. Inside it was so busy that you couldn’t really take a good look at the things they sold, so we didn’t buy anything.

その後はジュラシック・パーク・ザ・ライドに行った。待つ時間はそんなに長くなかった。水のアトラクションだったけど、残念私はそんなに濡れてなかった！
次はジョーズ。船の運転手はとても面白い話をした。初めには普通に船を乗ったけど、角を曲がって沈んだ船を見た。「前の船・・・心配しないでください！」
そして鮫が色んな所に現れて、船の運転手はライフルで鮫に撃った。

次はフライング・スヌーピーと近くにあるライドに行った（上の写真にもある）。セサミストリート・ワールドも見に行った。やっぱり日本のセサミストリートとオランダのセサミストリートでキャラクターがちょっと違う！例えば、エルモがオランダのセサミストリートにも見たけど、モッピーは始めてみたキャラクター。

Daarna bezochten we Jurassic Park The Ride, een waterattractie (helaas zat ik op een plaats waar je niet erg nat werd). Ook hier schoot de rij best wel op.
De volgende attractie was Jaws. Je zat in een boot met een verhaal erbij, verteld door de bestuurster van de boot, echt heel grappig (ook als je geen Japans verstaat is het wel duidelijk). Het begon als een rustig tochtje, maar zodra je de hoek omgaat ligt er een boot te zinken (“Oh dat was de vorige boot… Geen probleem, het gaat goed!”). En daarna verschijnt er een paar keer een haai en ze schiet ernaast, tot op het einde.
Vervolgens gingen we de Snoopy-attractie in (zie de tweede foto in het fotoblok hierboven) en nog een aantal andere attracties in dat gedeelte van het park. Ook hebben we even in het Sesamstraatgedeelte gekeken, een binnenspeeltuin voor kleine kinderen met een muziekshow.

Then we went to Jurassic Park The Ride, a water attraction (unfortunately I was in a part of the boat where you didn’t get very wet). We didn’t have to wait too long here to get into the attraction.
The next attraction was Jaws. You sat in a boat where the boat driver told a story – very funny, and it was clear even when you don’t understand Japanese! It started out quietly, but as soon as the boat goes around the corner you see a boat sinking (“Oh that was the previous boat… No problem, it’s allright!”). And then a shark appears a few times and the boat drives shoots at it, until the end.
Then we went to the Snoopy attraction (see the second photo in the photo block above) and some other attractions in that area of the park. We also took a look in the Sesame Street building, which was an indoor playground for small children, including a musical show.

夜の8時半、パレードが始まった。とても綺麗だった！
朝から夜までUSJに歩いていたけど、勿論全部のアトラクションは見えなかった。

ジュラシック・パークのエリアで有史以前らしい食べ物があった：大きな暖かいトウモロコシ、シチメンチョウ肉の足、凍った果物（例えば凍ったパイナップル）。全部食べた：美味しかった！

Om half 9 ‘s avonds begon de lichtparade – erg mooi!
We zijn de hele dag (van ‘s ochtends tot ‘s avonds laat) wel bezig geweest in USJ, al hebben we niet alle attracties kunnen bezoeken.

In het Jurassic Park gedeelte (Lost World) verkochten ze “prehistorisch eten”, zoals grote (warme) maiskolven met de bladeren er nog aan, zodat je ‘m makkelijker vast kon houden, en grote kalkoenpoten die je af kon kluiven. Allebei gegeten, erg lekker! Verder hadden ze ook bevroren fruit op een stokje (zoals een bevroren ananas) i.p.v. ijs! Ook heel erg lekker met die hitte 🙂
In de ATM (pinautomaat) in het park kun je trouwens niet pinnen met Nederlandse (buitenlandse?) bankpassen, dus zorg ervoor dat je genoeg geld meehebt voor het eten en eventuele souvenirs.

We had walked around in the park all day (from morning till evening), but we didn’t visit all attractions.

In the Jurassic Park area (Lost World), they sold “prehistoric food”, like big (warm) corn with the leaves still on, so you could hold it more easily, and large turkey legs where you could tear off the meat with your teeth. I ate both of these and they tasted very good! They also had frozen fruit on a stick, like frozen pineapple on a stick, instead of icecream. Also very delicious in this heat 🙂
In the park’s ATM we couldn’t use our Dutch bank cards (and probably also not any other foreign bank cards), so be sure to take enough money with you into the park for food and possibly souvenirs.

日本旅行：大阪城／ Japanreis: Het kasteel van Osaka / Japan trip: Osaka Castle

お昼ご飯を食べた後、電車で大阪城に行った。上野城よりも大きな博物館だった。
先は城の8階に階段を登った。そして1階1階で降りた。4階で、VOCのカノンでオランダのパスポートと同じ絵があった（出島にあるカノンよりも小さいけど）。日本の高校の友達に見せて面白かった。

Nadat we hadden geluncht, gingen we met de trein naar het kasteel van Osaka. De binnenkant van dit kasteel is ingericht als museum, maar wel een stuk uitgebreider dan het kasteel van Iga-Ueno. Het is ook een groter kasteel.
In het kasteel namen we de trappen (naar de 8e oftewel de 7e verdieping in de Nderlandse telling). Eerst helemaal naar boven, daarna per verdieping naar beneden en daar rondkijken. Op de “4e” verdieping lag er een VOC-kanon (wel kleiner dan die in Dejima) met hetzelfde plaatje als op het Nederlandse paspoort (dat had mijn vriend aan mijn Japanse vriendinnen laten zien).

After having eaten lunch, we took the train to Osaka Castle. The inside of this castle also is a museum, as was the castle in Iga-Ueno. However, Osaka Castle is a lot bigger.
Inside the castle, we took the stairs up to the 8th floor (7th floor in the Western counting system). First to the top, then down floor by floor. On the “4th” floor, there was a VOC cannon (which was smaller than the one in Dejima) with the same image on it as on the Dutch passport (which my boyfriend showed to my Japanese friends).

日本旅行：大阪で食べる／ Japanreis: Eten in Osaka / Japan trip: Eating in Osaka

あべのハルカスで観光した後、小さな串かつのレストランに歩いた。一人の友達のおばあちゃんの妹は夫と一緒にとんかつのレストランを持っているから、あそこでお昼ご飯を食べた。レストランの名前は「いく安」。美味しい野菜・肉・卵・こんにゃくなどの串かつを食べた。
あべのハルカスから歩いていたけど、新今宮駅から出発した（新今宮駅は地図で右下にある）。

Nadat we een tijdje rondgelopen hadden op de bovenste verdiepingen van de Abeno-Harukas-toren, gingen we naar een kushikatsu-restaurantje. Kushikatsu is een specialiteit in Osaka en de jongere zus van de oma van één van mijn vriendinnen heeft met haar man ook een kushikatsu-restaurant: “Ikuya” (いく安), dus daar gingen we heen voor de lunch.
We hadden zelf dingen los besteld, maar ook een set waarbij ze gewoon een aantal dingen zelf kozen. Het was allemaal groente/vlees/ei/konnyaku etc in een laagje deeg gefrituurd op een stokje.
We zijn ernaartoe gelopen vanaf Abeno-Harukas, maar het station waarvandaan we daarna vertrokken waren is “Shin-Imamiya” (新今宮), het kruis rechtsonder op het kaartje.

After walking around for a bit on the upper floors of the Abeno-Harukas building, we went to a small kushikatsu restaurant. Kushikatsu is an Osaka specialty and the younger sister of the grandmother of one of my friends runs a kushikatsu restaurant together with her husband: “Ikuya” (いく安), so that’s where we went to for lunch. We ordered some items separately, but also a set (in which they just put a bunch of different kinds of kushikatsu). It was all fried vegetables/meat/egg/konnyaku etc on a stick.
We walked to the restaurant from Abeno-Harukas, but the station from which we left was “Shin-Imamiya” (新今宮), the cross on the bottom right of the map.

日本旅行：大阪のあべのハルカス／ Japanreis: Abeno-Harukas in Osaka / Japan trip: Abeno-Harukas in Osaka

私と彼氏は日本の高校の友達と一緒に大阪に行った。あべのハルカスの下の駅で大阪に着いた。勿論ハルカスの上までに行った！上からの大阪は他の街と違う。
前の上から見た街は 東京、京都、伊賀上野)。

Osaka: Abeno-Harukas

Met een paar vriendinnen van mijn middelbare school in Japan, gingen ik en mijn vriend naar Osaka. We kwamen aan bij het station onder de Abeno-Harukas, het hoogste gebouw van Osaka. Daar gingen we natuurlijk wel omhoog! Het was leuk om Osaka ook van boven te zien, omdat alle steden er toch wel iets anders uitzien van bovenaf (zie ook Tokyo Tower en de Sky Tree, Kyoto Tower en het station van Kyoto, en Iga-Ueno).

I and my boyfriend met up with a few friends from my Japanese high school to visit Osaka. We arrived at the station below the Abeno-Harukas, the tallest building in Osaka. Of course we went up the building! It was fun to see Osaka from above as well, because all cities do look a bit different when you look down on them (see also Tokyo Tower and the Sky Tree, Kyoto Tower and Kyoto station, and Iga-Ueno).
