抹茶／Matcha

朝護孫子寺で美味しい抹茶を飲んだ。東京の渋谷で抹茶ラッテを飲んだ。
抹茶が大好きから、普通の抹茶も時々自分で作る。何ヶ月前、日本に住んでいる友達から写真に見える抹茶、茶筅、茶杓と棗が送ってくれた。写真は茶筅がまだ使わなかったときに撮った。来週は茶道についてブログを書くから、今週は抹茶のことを書く方が良いと思った。
もちは日本から輸入をするお店で買った。

In het kleine cafeetje bij de Chogosonshi-tempel had ik hele lekker matcha gedronken. En in Shibuya (Tokyo) dronk ik matcha latte.
Omdat ik matcha heel lekker vind, maak ik het thuis af en toe ook. Een aantal maanden geleden had een vriendin vanuit Japan de matcha-thee, chasen (het bamboe theekloppertje), de chashaku (het bamboe theelepeltje) en de natsume (het bamboe bewaarblikje) naar me opgestuurd. Deze foto’s zijn genomen toen de chasen nog niet gebruikt was. Zodra je ‘m gebruikt, gaan de bamboesprieten verder uit elkaar staan (de chasen is uit 1 stuk bamboe gesneden).
Omdat ik volgende week een stukje op mijn weblog over de theeceremonie ga schrijven, leek het me wel handig om even een stukje over matcha te schrijven 🙂
Op de bovenste rij foto’s zie je de benodigdheden, op de tweede rij foto’s ben ik matcha aan het kloppen, en op de onderste rij zie je de mochi (rijstcakeje met zoete bonen binnenin) die je, zeker bij de theeceremonie, opeet voordat je de thee drinkt. Je krijgt vaak een zoet snoepje bij de matcha, omdat de smaak van de thee beter uitkomt als je eerst iets zoets hebt gegeten. Een stroopwafel kan natuurlijk ook 😛
Deze mochi had ik gekocht bij roppongi.nl, een webwinkel die Japanse dingen importeert en ook op beurzen staat (met meer assortiment dan dat ze in hun webwinkel hebben).

Because I really like matcha, I also make it at home occasionally. A few months ago a friend from Japan sent me the matcha (tea), the chasen (the bamboo whisk), the chashaku (the bamboo spoon) and the natsume (the bamboo container). These photos were taken when I hadn’t used the chasen yet. As soon as you use it, the bamboo bristles move outwards (the chasen has been cut from one piece of bamboo).
Because I’m going to write about the tea ceremony next week, I thought it would be useful to write a bit about matcha first 🙂
On the top row of photos you can see the utensils, on the second row I’m using the chasen to whisk matcha, and on the bottom row you can see the mochi (rice cake filled with sweet beans), which you eat before you drink the tea (especially when enjoying a tea ceremony). You often get a sweet thing to eat with the matcha, because it makes the taste of the matcha come out better. Of course you can also eat something else with a sweet taste 🙂
I bought this mochi at roppongi.nl, a webshop selling imported Japanese items, and who also sell their items at conventions (more items than they have in their webshop).
