“Light the light”: メデューサの冬コンサート/ Medusa’s winterconcert / Medusa winter concert

12月11日（金）はメデューサ合唱部の冬コンサートだった。
5人だけで合唱部はちょっと小さいけど、コンサートは良く歌えた！
チャペルも小さかったからちょうどいい大きさだった。

Op vrijdag 11 december hielden we met Studentenvrouwenkoor Medusa ons winterconcert. We waren maar met vijf personen, maar het concert ging toch heel goed! De kapel was ook klein, dus eigenlijk was die precies de goede grootte.

On December 11, we had our winter concert with Student Women’s Choir Medusa. We were only with five people, but the concert went very well anyway! The chapel was small too, so actually it was exactly the right size location.

午後の6時、ユトレヒト駅でコンサートのプレビュー公演をした。私は緑のセーターと黒いドレスは自分で作った。セーターは去年に作った。ドレスは先月を作った。
Rond 18 uur gaven we een voorproefje van ons concert bij de piano op station Utrecht Centraal. Mijn groene trui en het zwarte jurkje heb ik zelf gemaakt. De trui vorig jaar, het jurkje vorige maand.
Around 6 PM we gave a preview of our concert at Utrecht Central Station. I made my green sweater and black dress myself: the sweater last year, the dress last month.

お土産袋の作り方（その２）／Cadeauzakjes maken (2)／Making gift bags (2)

去年はお土産袋の作り方をアップロードした。
長方形の生地があったら、前のお土産袋は良く作れない。
でも、次の袋は作れる！2つのリボンで引っ張って、袋がしめる。

Vorig jaar had ik een handleiding op deze weblog gezet om cadeauzakjes te maken. Maar wat als je nu een lapje stof hebt waar dit niet mee lukt, zoals een heel langwerpig lapje?
Dan kun je deze nieuwe zakjes wel maken!
Hier gebruik je twee lintjes, waar je aan kan trekken om het zakje mee te sluiten.

Last year I uploaded a tutorial to make gift bags. But what if you have a piece of fabric that you can’t make a nice bag out of, like an oblong piece of fabric? Then you can make these new bags!
Here you use two ribbons, which you can pull to close the bag.

エイントホーヴェンの子供の本屋さん/ De “Boekenberg” in Eindhoven / Children’s bookstore in Eindhoven

エイントホーヴェンの街の駅の近くで、「本の山」と言う子供の本屋さんがある。
ここでアルバイトをした時から、この本屋さんはオランダで一番面白い本屋さんだと思う！売っているものは子供の本（１６歳まで）、大人の本も少し、そして物語のキャラクターのぬいぐるみとおもちゃ、そして沢山のカード！カードでイラストがある（売っている本と同じイラストも、他のイラストも）。カードだけを買うお客さんもいる。英語の本も売っている：英訳したオランダの有名な本（例えばミッフィーの本）。
この本屋さんでもイベントが沢山ある。例えば、有名なオランダの作家は本屋さんに来て本をプレゼンテーションする。写真で「Haaieneiland」のポスターが見える。意味は「サメの島」、オランダの有名な作家の新しい本。

In de binnenstad van Eindhoven in de wijk De Bergen, kun je op de Kleine Berg 48 de kinderboekwinkel De Boekenberg vinden!
Sinds ik hier een tijdje heb gewerkt, vind ik dit natuurlijk de leukste boekwinkel van het land 🙂 Ze verkopen kinderboeken (tot 16 jaar), maar ook wat boeken voor volwassenen en ze kunnen gewoon alle Nederlandse boeken bestellen. Verder verkopen ze ook andere dingen, zoals knuffels en speelgoed dat te maken heeft met (prenten)boeken, en vooral: heel veel ansichtkaarten! Veelal met mooie illustraties. Er zijn dan ook klanten die alleen maar voor de kaarten naar deze winkel komen.
Er worden ook vaak activiteiten georganiseerd. Laatst kwam Rob Ruggenberg vertellen over zijn nieuwe boek Haaieneiland (vandaar ook de grote poster aan de muur).
Dus ja, een gezellige winkel met aardige mensen, veel leuke boeken, kaarten en activiteiten 🙂

In the city centre of Eindhoven you can find the children’s bookstore the “Boekenberg” (“Book mountain”) at the address Kleine Berg 48.
Since I worked here for a while, of course I think this is the best bookstore in the country 🙂 They sell children’s books (up till age 16), mostly in Dutch, but there’s also a bookcase with English books: popular books in English, but also popular Dutch books translated into English. They also sell other items, like plushies and toys related to (picture) books, and also: lots of postcards! Most of these cards have pretty illustrations. There are people who visit this bookstore only for the postcards.
They also organize quite a lot of activities. For example, recently the famous Dutch author Rob Ruggenberg, who writes historical novels, came to the bookstore to tell about his newest novel “Haaieneiland” (“Shark Island”), which is why there’s a big poster on the wall with the book cover image.
So in conclusion, it’s a nice cosy store with nice people, lots of books, cards and activities 🙂

１週間でメデューサ合唱部と色んなことをした：
１１月２２日（日）朝の１０時から昼の３時まで、コンサートの練習をした。
１１月２５日（水）の夕べにはユトレヒトにある老人福祉施設でコンサートをした。老人はコンサートをとても楽しかった。「また来てください！」って聞いた。老人も有名な歌と一緒に歌った。
１１日２６日（木）には普通の練習。
１１月２７日（金）の夕べにはユトレヒト大学の卒業生のためにコンサートをした（大学の教室で）。

１２月１１日（金）にはユトレヒトの音楽学部のチャペルで、メデューサの大きなコンサートがある。

老人福祉施設でコンサート
Concert in “Vecht en IJssel Lieven de Key”, Utrecht

In 1 week had ik drie Medusa-activiteiten:
Op 22 november (zondag) hadden we repetitiedag, oefenen van 10 tot 15 uur voor de concerten.
Woensdagavond 25 november gaven we een try-outconcert in verzorgingshuis Vecht en IJssel Lieven de Key in Utrecht, een erg leuke locatie om een concert te geven: de oude bewoners van het verzorgingstehuis zongen zelfs mee met twee bekende stukken!
Op donderdagavond hadden we gewoon een repetitie, en op vrijdagavond gaven we een concert voor donateurs en vrienden van het U-fonds (Utrechts Universiteitsfonds, bestaande uit alumni van de universiteit), in een collegezaal van het oude gebouw van Rechtsgeleerdheid (Janskerkhof 3). Heel apart om in een collegezaal te zingen, maar de akoestiek was verrassend goed en het was heel leuk om te doen.

Op vrijdagavond 11 december houden we ons grote concert, in de kapel van het conservatorium (Mariaplaats 28, Utrecht).

In one week, I had three Medusa activities:
On Sunday November 22, we had practice day. We practiced from 10 o’clock in the morning till 3 in the afternoon.
Wednesday evening November 25, we gave a try-out concert in an elderly home in Utrecht, a very nice location to give a concert. The elderly residents even sang along with two well-known songs!
On Thursday evening we had our normal practice, and on Friday evening we gave a concert for people who had graduated from the university and had donated money. It was quite special to sing in a classroom, but the acoustics were quite good and it was fun to do.

On Friday evening December 11, we will give our big concert in the chapel of the Utrecht Music School.
