生地市場の隣にある『Pauwstraat』と言う道で、ミニ図書館がある！オランダ語の本も英語の本もこのミニ図書館にある。無料で本を持っていける。そして自分がもう欲しくない本を持ってたら、ミニ図書館で置いていける。

In de straat naast de stoffenmarkt, de Pauwstraat in Utrecht, hangt een minibibliotheek aan een hek! Vorig weekend haalde ik daar een boek van Steven Pinker uit (“Het taalinstinct“) en eerder ook al “Boy 7” van Mirjam Mous en “Hyperion” van Dan Simmons.
Ik heb deze minibieb ook aan Librarything toegevoegd!

In the street next to the fabric market, a street called the Pauwstraat in the city of Utrecht, there’s a mini library attached to a fence! Last weekend I found Steven Pinker’s “The language instinct” (in Dutch) there, and earlier the Dutch book “Boy 7” (by Mirjam Mous) en the English book “Hyperion” by Dan Simmons.
I also added this mini library to Librarything’s database!

お城祭りで歩く／Rondwandelen op Castlefest / Walking around at Castlefest

キューケンホフ城の周りでマーケットがあった。下の写真は歩きながらで撮った。

Rondom kasteel Keukenhof was een grote markt waar je heel veel verschillende dingen kon kopen. De foto’s hieronder zijn genomen tijdens het rondwandelen.

Around Keukenhof castle there was a large market where you could buy many different things. The photos below were taken when walking around.

入り口は忙しかった!他の写真はマーケットと食べる所。

コスチュームを着ている人も沢山いた！上の写真はスタートレックのキャラクター、下の写真は他の綺麗なコスチューム。
Er waren ook veel mensen in kostuums! Op de bovenste rij personages uit Star Trek, op de onderste rij andere mooie kostuums.
There were also a lot of people in costumes! On the top row are people from Star Trek, on the bottom row other pretty costumes.

私はシャンタルが２００７年に作ってくれたドレスを着ていた（今年もシャンタルと一緒に写真を撮った!）。
お城の前で怖い人が立っていた・・・
そしてパイレーツ・オブ・カリビアンのジャック・スパロウとエドワード・ティーグもいた！

Ik droeg de jurk die Chantal voor mij in 2007 had gemaakt (en dit jaar ook weer een foto gemaakt samen 🙂 ).
Voor de deur van het kasteel stond iemand die je bleef nakijken terwijl je om het kasteel heen liep…
En er was ook een Jack Sparrow en een kapitein Edward Teague uit Pirates of the Caribbean!

お城祭りのマーケット／De markt van Castlefest / Castlefest market

食物：肉、焼き芋、肉
Eten te koop: vlees, gefrituurde aardappelpartjes, en meer vlees!
Food: meat, fried potato wedges, and more meat.

キューケンホフ城の周りでマーケットがあった。ちょっと中世紀／ファンタジーの感じで沢山の物が売っていた。そして中世紀風の食物も売っていた!

Rondom kasteel Keukenhof was een grote markt waar je heel veel verschillende dingen kon kopen. Vooral veel Middeleeuws/fantasy-geinspireerde dingen. En natuurlijk ook eten 🙂

Around Keukenhof castle there was a large market where you could buy many different things. Most of it was Middle Ages/fantasy inspired stuff, but of course you bould also buy food!

Kruiden, sieraden, kussens, stof, beeldjes, kaarten, een paraplu, etc.
Spices, jewelry, cushions, fabrics, statues/figurines, cards, an umbrella, etc.

仮面、蜂蜜酒、ファッジ、綺麗な石、カップなど。
Maskers, mede, fudge, mooie stenen, servies, etc.

お城祭り／Castlefest

8月6日（土）にはリッセでお城祭りがあった。キューケンホフ城の公園で、マーケットがあって、パレードもあって、色んなショーもあって、1日で楽しかった!写真は撮りすぎだから、今日も明日も明後日もお城祭りの写真をアップロードする・・・

Op zaterdag 6 augustus vond Castlefest plaats in Lisse rondom kasteel Keukenhof. Er was een grote markt waar je allerlei dingen kon kopen, optochten, verschillende shows, etc. We hebben er de hele dag rondgelopen! Omdat ik wel teveel foto’s heb genomen, zal ik die in drie verschillende berichten op mijn weblog plaatsen (vandaag, morgen en overmorgen).

On August 6th (Saturday) we visited Castlefest, a festival in Lisse taking place in the park around Keukenhof castle. There was a large market where you could buy many kinds of things, parades, several shows, etc. We spend the entire day there! Because I did take too many photos, I’ll post those today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow on my weblog!

スカートで刺繍／Rok met borduursel / Skirt with embroidery

刺繍付きのスカートを作っている。

スカートの布が薄かったから、刺繍をする前に接着芯地を貼った。形は紙で描いて、切って、黄色い鉛筆で形を接着芯地で描いた。そして簡単に刺繍の形が出来た!

Omdat de stof van de rok nogal dun is, plakte ik eerst vlieseline op de achterkant (vlieseline plakt aan 1 kant, als je het op een andere lap stof legt en er met de strijkbout overheen gaat). Daarna tekende ik het patroon op papier, sneed dat uit, en kon toen gemakkelijk het patroon weer op de vlieseline overtrekken (met geel kleurpotlood, omdat alle andere kleuren niet zichtbaar waren op de zwarte vlieseline). Het borduren van de patronen was toen natuurlijk niet meer zo lastig 🙂

Because the fabric of the skirt is quite thin, I first applied fusible interfacing (vlieseline) to the back side of the fabric. Then I drew the pattern on paper and cut it out, so I could trace the pattern onto the interfacing (with yellow pencil, as other colours weren’t visible on the black interfacing). Embroidering the patterns wasn’t very difficult then anymore!

Klaar! Nog wat detailfoto’s. Het t-shirt dat ik op het onderste fotootje aanheb, is trouwens gemaakt door mijn moeder in 2002.

メデューサ合唱部とカルチャーナイト / Medusa op de Culturele Avond in TivoliVredenburg / Medusa at the Culture Night in TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht

今週は入学生のために大学・ユトレヒト市などの導入があった。12時から16時まではマーケット（去年と同じ）、19時半からは
ユトレヒトのコンサートホール「TivoliVredenburg」（ティヴォリ・ヴレーデンブルヒュ）でカルチャーナイトがあった。
このカルチャーナイトで、ユトレヒト大学の音楽部はプレゼンテーションが出来た。勿論メデューサもいた！私と二人のメデューサの友達と一緒に沢山の新しい大学生と話した。
そして窓から見えたユトレヒト街も綺麗だった!

Deze week is het de introductieweek voor nieuwe studenten in Utrecht. Gisteravond 17 augustus vond de Culturele Avond van de Utrechtse Introductie Tijd plaats in TivoliVredenburg. Overdag was de UIT-markt (net als vorig jaar) en ‘s avonds waren er allerlei muzikale activiteiten te vinden in TivoliVredenburg. Studentenvrouwenkoor Medusa stond samen met de andere muziekverenigingen van de universiteit bij een informatiekraampje. Daar stond ik natuurlijk ook bij 🙂 We hebben gezellig met mensen gesproken en onze nieuwe flyers uitgedeeld. Het uitzicht was ook heel mooi, zeker toen het donker begon te worden!

This week is the introduction week for new students in Utrecht. Yesterday evening August 17th, there was a Culture Night in Utrecht’s music hall TivoliVredenburg. At this Culture Night, all music clubs of Utrecht University could present themselves. During the day there had been an information market at the campus (just like last year) and in the evening there were a lot of cultural activities in TivoliVredenburg. Of course my choir Medusa was also present! We were at the information tables with the other music clubs of Utrecht University. We talked to a lot of people and handed out our new flyers. And of course the view over Utrecht was very pretty, especially when it started to get dark!

本屋さんの「ハリー・ポッター」イベント / “Harry Potter”-feestje in Donner / “Harry Potter” event in Donner bookstore

7月31日は「ハリー・ポッター」の誕生日だったから、新しいハリー・ポッターの本がこの日からお店で買えた。オランダの色んな本屋さんで、「ハリー・ポッター」のイベントがあった。
私はロッテルダムのイベントへ行った。このイベントは「ドンネル」の本屋さんであった。
新しい本は英語だけ：「Harry Potter and the cursed child」、日本語は「ハリー・ポッターと呪いの子」。オランダ語の本は11月に発売される（日本語版と同じとき）。
本屋さんで、新しい本も前のハリー・ポッターの本を売っていた。そして他のもの：コップ、フィギュアー、映画の忍びの地図、など。
本屋さんの入り口はキングスクロス駅の9と3/4番線の入り口に変わった。
お店でハリー・ポッターの世界のものが沢山あった：天井から飛んでいる本といすと傘とか。ホグワーツの旗。箒。グリフィンドールの入り口。
「ハリー・ポッター」の世界のコスチュームを着ていた人が沢山いたけど、私も友達も「ハリー・ポッター」のコスチュームが持っていない。友達は「ハリー・ポッター」のTシャツを着た。私は前に作ったドレスを着た。ちょっと八リーポッターらしい・・・？
家へ帰って、2時間半ぐらいで新しい本を読み終わった。楽しかった！

Op 31 juli was de verjaardag van Harry Potter, dus vanaf deze dag kon je het nieuwe Harry Potter boek in de winkels kopen. Verschillende boekhandels hadden iets georganiseerd ter ere van het nieuwe boek. Zelf was ik naar Rotterdam gegaan, omdat boekhandel Donner hun halve winkel in “Harry Potter”-thema had omgebouwd!
Het nieuwe boek heet “Harry Potter and the cursed child”. De Nederlandse versie komt pas in november uit (de Japanse versie trouwens ook) en het is het script van een toneelstuk wat vanaf 30 juli in Londen speelt.
Ze verkochten natuurlijk ook alle oudere Harry Potter boeken, evenals spulletjes: bekers met Harry Potter-afbeeldingen erop, de Sluipwegwijzer zoals die er in de films uitziet, plastic poppetjes van de personages, etc.
De ingang van de winkel hadden ze veranderd in de ingang van Perron 9 3/4 en ook binnen in de winkel was vanalles te vinden: zwevende boeken, stoelen en een paraplu aan het plafond, de vlaggen van de afdelingen van Zweinstein, bezemstelen, de ingang van Griffoendor (soort van), etc.
Er liepen ook heel veel verklede mensen rond, erg leuk om te zien! Ik had geen Harry Potter-kleding, dus ik had een groene jurk aangedaan die ik eerder had gemaakt (ook een beetje Harry Potter-achtig?) en Nakita (zij had de foto’s waar ik op sta gemaakt) droeg een Harry Potter T-shirt.
Zodra ik thuiskwam heb ik het boek binnen 2,5 uur uitgelezen. Ik vond het een heel leuk boek 🙂

On July 31st it was Harry Potter, so from this day onwards the new book was for sale in stores. Several bookstores in The Netherlands had organized an event. I went to Rotterdam, because the Donner bookstore had transformed half of their store into a “Harry Potter”-themed store!
The new book is called “Harry Potter and the cursed child”. The Dutch and Japanese editions will be published in November. It’s not a normal book, but the script of a play that has started on July 30th in Londen.
Of course there was also Harry Potter merchandise for sale: cups with Harry Potter images, the Marauder’s Map from the movies, figurines, etc.
They had transformed the entrance of the store into the entrance of Platform 9 3/4 and inside the store there were also many “magical items”: floating books, chairs and an umbrella, the flags of the Hogwarts Houses, broomsticks, the Gryffindor entrance (kind of), etc.
There were also quite a few people dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter world. As I didn’t have any Harry Potter clothing, I decided to wear a light green dress I made before (it would fit into the Harry Potter world?) and Nakita (who made the photos of me) was wearing a Harry Potter T-shirt.
As soon as I got home I finished reading the book (in about 2,5 hours total). I really enjoyed reading it 🙂

ロッテルダムの本屋さん『ドンネル』／Boekhandel Donner in Rotterdam / Bookshop “Donner” in Rotterdam

先週の日曜日、ロッテルダムの街へ行った。車は高速道路の隣でパークして、地下鉄で街の真ん中へ行けた。『ドンネル』はオランダの一番大きな本屋さん!楽譜まで売っている。新しい本が沢山あるけど、古い本もある。本屋さんの中でもカフェがあった。

Afgelopen zondag ging ik naar Rotterdam en bezocht daar de Donner-boekwinkel, de grootste boekwinkel van Nederland. En het is inderdaad een hele grote winkel! Ze verkopen er zelfs bladmuziek. Er is ook een kleine tweedehands-afdeling, maar het grootste deel bestaat uit allerlei soorten nieuwe (Nederlandse en Engelse) boeken. Ook is er een cafeetje waar je wat te eten en drinken kan bestellen.
Ik had aan de rand van de stad geparkeerd in P&R Kralingse Zoom. Vanaf daar ben je echt heel erg snel met de metro bij de boekwinkel, echt een aanrader dus!

Last Sunday I went to Rotterdam and visited the “Donner” bookstore, the largest bookstore in the Netherlands. And it is indeed a very large store! They even sell sheet music. There’s also a small secondhand section, but the largest part of what they sell consists of many different kinds of new (English and Dutch) books. There’s also a cafe where you can sit down and buy something to drink and eat.
I parked at the edge of the city in P&R Kralingse Zoom. From there on you can reach the bookshop very quickly using the metro, so I recommend doing that 🙂
