私たちの旅館は箱根湯本（地図の右）にあった。普通の箱根まわりは：箱根湯本から電車で強羅に行って、強羅からケーブルカーで大湧谷に行って、大湧谷からロープウェーで桃源台港に行って、桃源台港から船で元箱根港に行って、元箱根港からバスで箱根湯本に帰る。でも、このルートは忙しい。箱根湯本から逆のまわりをすると人が少ない！だから箱根に行ったら、箱根湯本から先バスに乗る方が良い。

Ons hostel was in Hakone-Yumoto aan de rechterkant van de kaart. De normale route, die iedereen neemt, is vanaf Hakone-Yumoto de trein naar Gora, dan de cable car naar Owakudani, dan de ropeway naar Togendai-ko, dan het piratenschip naar Motohakone-ko, en dan de bus terug naar Hakone-Yumoto. Wij hebben de route in de tegenovergestelde richting gedaan, omdat het dan heel rustig is in de bus en ropeway! Als je dus naar Hakone gaat, neem de tegenovergestelde route.

Our hostel was in Hakone-Yumoto on the right side of the map. The normal route, which everyone takes, is taking the train from Hakone-Yumoto to Gora, then the cable car to Owakudani, then the ropeway to Togendai-ko, then the pirate ship to Motohakone-ko, and then the bus back to Hakone-Yumoto. We took this route in the opposite direction, because then there are very few people in the bus and ropeway! So when you go to Hakone, take the route in the opposite direction.

元箱根港で、芦ノ湖の船に乗った。
In Motohakoneko gingen we het piratenschip op om over het Ashi-meer naar Togendai-ko te varen.
In Motohakoneko we boarded the pirate ship to sail to Togendai-ko over Lake Ashi.

桃源台港駅で美味しいパンが買える（って彼氏が言った、私は買わなかった）。そして大湧谷へのロープウェーに入った。
In station Togendai-ko kun je lekkere broodjes kopen (volgens mijn vriend, ik had niets gekocht). Daarna gingen we de ropeway in naar Owakudani.
In Togendai-ko station you can buy delicious bread (according to my boyfriend; I didn’t buy anything). Then we boarded the ropeway to Owakudani.

大湧谷で黒い卵が売っていた。私たちは食べなかったけど、他の人に「何の味」って聞いた。普通の卵の味って答えた・・・黒い卵のアイスもあった。
In Owakudani verkochten ze zwarte eieren. Wij hadden ze niet gegeten, maar ik had wel aan iemand gevraagd hoe die smaakten: naar gewone eieren… Ze hadden ook zwart-ei-ijs.
In Owakudani they sold black eggs. We didn’t buy them, but I asked someone what they tasted like: like normal eggs… They also sold black-egg-icecream.

Als laatste namen we de trein van Gora naar Hakone-Yumoto. Deze foto’s zijn op dat laatste station genomen.
Finally we took the train from Gora to Hakone-Yumoto. These photos have been taken at that last station.

夕ご飯前、箱根湯本で早川に行った。青いドレスは自分で作った（パターンはVogue V8615だった）。
Voor het avondeten gingen we in Hakone-Yumoto nog een tijdje bij de Hayakawa (Haya-rivier) zitten. De blauwe jurk heb ik zelfgemaakt (patroon: Vogue V8615).
Before dinner we went to sit next to the Hayakawa (Haya-river) for a while. The blue dress is one I made myself (pattern: Vogue V8615).

日本旅行：箱根で買い物 / Japanreis: Winkelen in Hakone / Japan trip: Shopping in Hakone

東京と違って、箱根で食べ物以外の買い物をした！いつでも「1回使うお箸」を貰うけど（コンビニで）、残念！だから、何回も使えるお箸を買った。箱根の寄木細工がどこでもあったから（道にも！）、こんなお箸を買った。この後、レストランでもこのお箸を使った。オランダに帰ってから、オランダのお寿司レストランでも使った。

In tegenstelling tot in Tokyo, hebben we in Hakone wel iets anders gekocht dan eten! Omdat je altijd wegwerp-eetstokjes krijgt in bijvoorbeeld de supermarkt, hebben we gewone eetstokjes gekocht. Het mozaïek van Hakone is beroemd, dus we hebben eetstokjes met zo’n patroontje gekocht. In Hakone kom je dat soort mozaïekpatronen overal tegen, ook op straat!
Hierna hebben we deze eetstokjes steeds gebruikt, ook in restaurants. En na terugkomst in Nederland heb ik ze ook meegenomen naar een sushi-restaurant in Nederland.

Contrary to what we did in Tokyo, we did buy something else than food in Hakone! As you always get throw-away chopsticks (for example in convenience stores), we bought normal chopsticks. The mosaic in Hakone is famous, so we bought chopsticks with such a pattern. You can see those patterns everywhere in Hakone, also on the street!
After this we used these chopsticks all the time, also in restaurants. And after returning to the Netherlands, I also took them with me to a sushi restaurant in the Netherlands.

東京の後は箱根に行った！とても綺麗なホステルに泊まった：かっぱ天国旅館。箱根駅の上にあるから、階段いっぱいあった。階段が登れない人はここに泊まるのは大変だと思う。

Na Tokyo gingen we naar Hakone! We verbleven in een heel mooi hostel: Kappa Tengoku Ryokan. De site is enkel in het Japans, maar met een goede reden: de mensen die het hostel runnen, kunnen geen Engels. Als je daar wil verblijven, moet je dus goed Japans kunnen spreken! Het hostel ligt boven het station van Hakone, dus om er te komen moet je ook veel trappen op. Mensen die niet goed kunnen traplopen, kunnen hier denk ik beter niet naartoe gaan.

After Tokyo we went to Hakone! We stayed at a very nice hostel: Kappa Tengoku Ryokan. The website is only in Japanese, but with good reason: the people running the hostel don’t speak any English, so when you want to stay here, you should be able to talk Japanese!
The hostel is above Hakone station, so you also have to climb a lot of stairs. People who have difficulty climbing stairs, probably shouldn’t stay here.

部屋で、布団もベッドもあった。私たちは布団で寝た。美味しいお茶もあった！

In de kamer bevonden zich zowel futons (opvouwbare matrassen op de grond, daar hebben wij op geslapen) als een gewoon bed. Verder stond er ook thee, superlekker 🙂

There were futons (foldable mattresses on the floor, we slept on those) and a normal bed. They had also provided tea, very nice 🙂

旅館には温泉があった！毎日の朝にも夕べにも温泉に行った。最後の朝に誰もいなかったから、私は写真が撮れた。

In het hostel zat ook een onsen! Dat is een bad met water uit een hete bron. Hakone staat bekend om zijn hete bronnen. Elke ochtend en avond ging ik even naar de onsen van het hostel 🙂 De foto’s heb ik genomen op de laatste ochtend, toen er ook niemand was.

In the hostel, there was also an onsen! An onsen is a bath with water from a hot spring. Hakone is famous for its hot springs. Every morning and evening I went to the hostel’s onsen 🙂 I took the photos at the last morning, when I was also the only one there.

旅館の温泉（女）。
Onsen (heet bad) van het hostel, vrouwengedeelte. Je moet je eerst wassen met de douches tegen de wand, daarna mag je het bad in.
The hostel’s hot spring, bath for the women. First you have to wash yourself outside the bath, then you can go in.
